UX50 and UX90 Side-by-side at Akihabara News
We’ve all seen the previous video of the Sony Vaio UX50 from Akihabara News. This time they’ve released a new video of the Sony Vaio UX50 and UX90 side-by-side.
Both the UX50 and the UX90 are currently Japan-only models, each having 30GB of hard drive and 512 MB of RAM. The UX90 however is powered by a 1.2 GHz Core Solo processor compared to a 1.06GHz Core Solo on the UX50. While the UX50 keyboard has additional Japanese keys, the UX90 has a full english, standard keyboard, similar to the UX180P US model.
Well, I wish they compared the two models with the exact same software in them to see the actual difference in speed. In this video, it all seemed like the UX50 was faster. The UX90 is about $300 more expensive than the UX50 (over at Dynamism). On a small handheld device like the Vaio UX, will the 0.14 GHz really matter?
A torrent link to the video is available after the jump.

All that’s compared here is boot speed. Processing speed is still better on the UX90. But I’ve been happy as a clam with the performance of my new UX50. Picked it up in Japan a week and a half ago:
