Sony Vaio UX90PS Video Review

Akihabara News has just posted a video review of the new Vaio UX90PS, the new Micro PC with a solid-state 16GB flash drive. They compare its noticable, faster boot time with the Vaio UX50.
You can pre-order this black, special version of the Vaio UX at Dynamism for $2799. Personally, while I would like to have one, the small hard drive coupled with the high price is just a deal breaker for me.

Why buying at Dynamism when you check that these PC are from GeekStuff4U.com and MUCH Cheaper??? Is this because you had a Free one from them ?
Dynamism are $600 more expensive than GeekStuff4U, who on earth will go and buy from Dynamism?
We bought our unit from Dynamism, for your information. Thanks for telling us about GeekStuff4U anyway. While they are cheaper, it’s only for about a few dollars since you have to add english XP, and other options that should have come standard, but they are charging for. Check the final price and note, it’s not $600 diference! LOL
Btw, does Geekstuff4U sponsor Akihabara’s units?
Depending on your specification they are still, cheaper. As for Akihabara News and GeekStuff4U as far as I understood they are the same company as well as 8 different web.
well, the new UX may indeed be faster in the READs due to the flash memory, unfortunately, it is much slower than the HDD-model when it comes to WRITEs!!!
for example, while it takes the UX90PS about 50% less time to boot up the OS, it takes twice as long for it to go to Suspend than the HDD-model.
just FYI.
Holy crud, who’s got the hairy arms doing the work? Sasquatch? A Yeti? That’s one hairy person…
Is Vista on the UX180p as slow as the guy on the video said it was? Because Im thinking of getting a UX and don’t know whether to go for the more secure less memory UX90PS or the more memory less sucuraty UX180P.
Shouldn’t suspending on the UX90ps faster because it’s FAST read from Flash to SUPER fast write to RAM? Are you talking about Hibernate where the system is written into the flash disk? Well guess what you will get FAST read from flash when you un-hibernate to offset the slow write.
Don’t forget when you buy a Japanese unit (I bought the UX90ps from geekstuff4u) you already PAID for the Japanese XP. With dynamism you are paying TWICE to microsoft for an English XP! No thanks I’ll install my own copy.
Well the ux180 or the ux90 can be upgrate to 1gb of ram ? cuz if not who will buy it now? i guess every one would like in the future to install vista on it and if winxp with 256 of ram work very slow i think the guy is right , it will be slow for vista with only 512.
Hi. I have a vgn-ux 90s with windows xp home in japonese. I wanna know, how i can change the windows to english edition.
where a download the drivers?
thanks
FeOkuma
If you can find out which US model the UX90s corresponds to then we’ll be able to get you the drivers from Sonys esupport site. Also, you might want to ask on the forums if you can get the OS over to windows, I think it can be done.
