The Sony mylo

Somewhat Micro PC related, Sony announced today the Sony mylo, a wireless personal communication and entertainment device that sports a 320×240 screen, built-in 802.11b WiFi, digital audio player, picture viewer, a web browser, instant messaging via Yahoo! and GTalk, and VoIP using Skype. It has 1GB internal memory anda Memory Stick Duo expansion slot.
mylo stands for”My Life Online”, a wireless mobile service initially targeted for the Sony Clie S320 Palm OS PDA and notebook users which really never took off. mylo is now reborn through a personal communicator aimed for social networking.
There is still no news of what the underlying operating system Sony used nor news if Sony will release software developer kits (SDK) for developers.
The Sony mylo will be available September for about $350. Check out it’s press release and it’s official website.

Arent we already doing all that with our UXs?
Yup!
It’s a subset of the UX though, and a cheaper version.
Gee, if only this had come out a month ago, I could have saved about $1700 and had an orange keyboard too!!!
Just my luck….

They finally had to do something like that, cause there are lot of Smartphones and PDA’s with slide keyboards out there. And the PSP has no keyboard. In my case the PSP was such mistake to purchase. I hope to hear something about the OS soon, but I definately think that it is not Win XP, XP embbeded or WinCE. And as with the PSP, the movie converting starts again. What a pain.
Here’s my review of the mylo: http://www.pocketables.net/2006/10/review_sony_myl.html
Being a devout UX180P user, I can say with certainty that the mylo is definitely not a low-end UMPC or Micro PC.
