Before purchasing my Sony Vaio UX 280P I first researched and then saved my money because I knew at the time it was the ultimate handheld computer. Hands down the UX`280P beats all others in the UMPC market and the mini pc market. Just recently purchasing mine 2 weeks ago, I searched my options carefully before making the investment. I was almost sold on the OQO model 02 but the lack of power and features wound up being the deal killer for me. Not to mention lack of any from of removeable memory. Sony has in the UX series a remarkable device, the price is not cheap but the money is well worth it. I highly recomend this device, and any one interested you can purchacse one from frys.com for 1499.99$, that's 300$ cheaper then what there going for on Sony's site.

I've had mine for about a month now and I have no major complaints. The port replicator (docking station) makes the UX usable as a desktop while at home and its small size and connectivity options make it a perfect travel companion.

I use the UX280 for the same things I use a normal computer for... business, presentations and surfing the web primarily. I’m using it at home now with an external display, USB keyboard and USB mouse. I added a 4GB Memory Stick Pro which allows me to store DVDs for playback during long airport delays and short flights.

I wish the battery life was a bit longer and it would be great to fine a nice leather case for it before it gets banged up in my briefcase.

Yes, this system is nice. Just got mine two days ago, and I can't put it down. When I have some time, I'll be loading my version of Windows on it.

Hello, I got my Sony Vaio UX280P today and I love it. I have couple of apple laptops, I will use it when I go to the doctor, while waiting for something like my car in the dealer, etc. I like it because I can have the ux while waiting for the doctor and be browsing the web instead of taking out my apple macbook pro or powerbook and putting it on my lap. When im in class can I need to correct some minor error on my paper, I can just boot up the ux, make the changes and reprint it. I would use it more for making minor work and not big reports, photoshoping, programming, etc, just like to fix some lines of code, fixing misspelled words, etc.

I dunno, maybe I'm just not geared for the gadgets. We got the UX180P at my job recently, and I got to play a little bit with it. It DOES seems cool, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure I'd go for that over an actual ultra-portable. Anyone out there who uses this and loves it, let me know...what do you use it for...why this over a laptop? I'm just curious.
