OQO refreshes Model 02 lineup
News of the OQO refresh broke around mid-day yesteday, somehow someone managed to get a hold of the press release that was dated, and officially released today. The model refresh includes upgrades for models in the storage capacity, wireless connectivity and processor speed categories. Prices have been reduced for all configurations of the unit. The OQO model 02 now offers EV-DO Rev. A with service options from Sprint or Verizon on all models except the “good” configuration which is still using Rev. 0 with the same service prodivders. The “best” configuration has now been upgraded to a 1.6GHz CPU, and can be configured with a 120GB HDD for an additional $100. There is now a “best with SSD” option which is quite obviously the “best” configuration with a 32GB SSD, and an additional $500 added to its price tag making for a total of $2,349. Check out all the configuration options over at the OQO Store.

Well now. The OQO creeps a little more forward. The SSD will break loose a lot of folks who were waiting for just that option. The faster processor definitely helps although it’s still not up to Intel standards. The only other issue is that it’s still running the VIA graphics sub-system, which means Vista without Aero.
Still and all, it’s nice to see that OQO is making some efforts to compete.
Its time for a response from Sony, I hope they don’t leave us hanging.
