View Full Version : Vista and Aero Glass?

I know a few of you have tried installing Vista on your machines, but has anyone tried to get Aero Glass running? It might not be available automatically, but I know the UX has the right chipset to run it. If you install the "Intel Lakeport" driver, that should get it going. I manually installed that driver on my Compaq V5000-series, and it really is a neat feature, especially the active thumbnails of running programs.
I'm kinda on the fence about getting a UX, because I want to make sure that if I spend this much right now on a new machine, that it works with Vista and ALL of it's new features. I know Aero is a battery hog, but I still would like to have the option of using it.
Any help would be appreciated...

With Vista Beta 2, didn't work for me for (graphics gets a 2.0). Not sure about the Lakeport driver.
I expect their graphics benchmark criteria to improve with later releases (beta 3 / release candidates)

If you don't need it now - wait. Hardware always gets cheaper.
IMHO: with the small screen the transparent glass features aren't going to be significant.

Or you can run Window Blinds and try to find KOL vista skin that was banned by Microsoft. It does do Aero Glass

Of course! I already asked him and waiting for an answer! By the way, this guy works for MS mobile devision (Japan), so it makes me not wonder that he got it to work. But this is never the Vista Beta 2. It looks like a newer build cause the B2 is barely useable on the UX.
