I have an UX90S. I turned on 'click' enable on the pointer but I forgot or cannot find how to disable it. It might be I had installed other pointing devices and the original driver is over written. Can someone please help?
Thanks

Last night I wrote up this note on enabling and configuring press-to-select:
Alps pointer
While in the control panel, open 'mouse' then go to the 'stick' tab. Press settings, enable 'press-to-select', then click 'advanced'. Here you can select some options to control the behavior of tapping the pointing stick. I like to set the sensitivity on the lowest setting and disable the right click and dragging options.

I dont have the 'stick' tab under my mouse setting any more. I aslo dont have ALPS or 'stick' under hardware device manager. What I haveare:
GUNZE USB Touch Panel
2 x HID-compliant mouse
PS/2 Compatible mouse
Could the 'stick' driver been over written?

Happened to me, too. I figured out that the wireless mouse I installed assimilated the mouse control panel and device manager. Fumbled around a bit but finally discovered a sequence that fixed the problem. The wireless mouse I installed was a Microsoft Intellipoint. It had all the enhanced controls and even a little button on the side that would magnify the screen. It was great for the UX, but had accompanying software that handled the drivers (and probably the assimilation as well).
Anyway, I uninstalled the mouse software in Add/Remove Programs. I restored the ALPS driver using the Vaio Recovery tools. I now have a Pointer tab in the mouse control panel.
I tried several combinations of driver installation with the mouse and the ALPS drivers but Microsoft always won out. I left the Intellipoint driver out and the mouse works as a regular PS/2 5 function mouse with the default driver. It's still a good wireless mouse, but I miss the left and right scroll functions of the mouse and I really miss the little zoom button. :(

I had the same problem when installing Intellipoint for a Microsoft Notebook Presenter 8000 bluetooth mouse on a UX280. I didn't want the mouse without all the additional features that required Intellipoint so here is what worked for me with XP:
1. Install Intellipoint and setup new mouse as directed/desired.
2. With new mouse connected, open Control Panel | Mouse properties
3. Under the Hardware tab, there will be several devices (mine had a PS/2 mouse, GUNZE touch panel, Presenter Media Controls, and Presenter PowerPoint controls)
4. Select "PS/2 Mouse" and click the Properties button.
5. Under the Driver tab, choose udate driver. Mine let me select the Alps driver from a list since it was already installed and it replaced the PS/2 generic mouse. You may have to search for the files if it doesn't appear in the list.
6. Apply changes. After a reboot, I have the Stick tab AND all of the Mouse specific tabs from Intellipoint for my mouse remain also.
Hope it works for others. I made a Acronis image of the system after I got it working. Good luck!
