I'm looking at the Think Outside Stowaway Universal Bluetooth keyboard and if I can get a toggle switch for my wireless desktop keyboard, and use both.

I'd really like ThinkOutside's bluetooth keyboard, but I'll probably use my small USB keyboard for now because of price.

I have the Think Outside BT keyboard. Its nice to use. but its not got the standard keys and really made for a PDA then a PC. So not all keys are there. Also its only got 3 rows of keys. So a lot more FN + "another key" to get something simple working. I dont know what else is out there to compare with. But I use it less because of what I have stated.

just want to let you guy know about it.

I dont have a UX(Its on delievery) Ive got the model before the U8. Works with that no drama.

Make sure you set it up right, bit of a pain, but once youve got it working. It should stay that way.

I have the Think Outside BT keyboard and I have in linked and locked with my US. UX and it works everytime when the PC starts up. It's the Sony BT mouse I am having trouble linking up each time the PC starts but I have gotten used to it. Remember, there is a little sacrifice that you have to make for this SIZE PC so I don't mind the little kinks that I have to work out because in exchange, you get the worlds smallest fully functional laptop (of course you paid out the A#@ for it but hey, it's a SONY) Like no OTHER, SONY!! You want the coolness factor then you have to deal with the little things. That OQO thing doesn't have half the technology that's in the UX180. :)

i like that .
I wish it had the solar charging panel. We have enough sun in southwest to make use of .:D
( New Mexico in the house ).

there is no option in poll like "Usb mobile keyboard".
I choosed this kind of keyboard because such keyboard is ready anytime. You don't need to worry about battery replace/recharge and save bateery of UX by not using bluetooth. just plug into USB! My keyboard is foldable (like book) just like many bluetooth keyboards and the same small size. Alphabetical keys at the same time is full-sized with cost of smaller size of other not so often used keys. By the way, additional short USB cable for this keyboard doesn't require as much space as any recharger ;)

Also, don't forget that bluetooth with WiFi at the same time works not so good.

IMHO, of course :)

I looked for a USB foldable keyboqard for month. There were supposed to be both a Targus and a Fellowes, each priced around $100 US. However, neither company listed the keyboard on their website. However, I found the keyboard on the Toshiba USA website (I'm an ex-Libretto usre) for about $36.

Has anyone used the I-Tech Virtual Laser Keyboard..it looks cool.

The Virtual Laser Keyboard (VKB) uses both infrared and laser technology to generate an invisible field and project a full-size virtual QWERTY keyboard on any surface.
You can use the VKB (Virtual PC Keyboard) with both your laptop and PC or with a compatible mobile device, Smartphone and PDA.
The I-Tech VKB reacts exactly like a real keyboard.
Direction technology based on optical recognition enables the user to tap the images of the keys, complete with realistic tapping sounds(!), which feeds into the compatible PDA, Smartphone, laptop or PC

It connects via usb right? That's what I want.

Why add another cablein your clutter?
Why not the stoway BT keyboard ?

You have this? Are you Russian? I like it. How can I get one in the USA? Thanks!

yes, i'm Russian. But currently i'm living in Taiwan. I always buy keyboards in Russia because i need to type Russian a lot :)
i tried to find any online store outside Russia, but couldn't..

what i can suggest is to locate Russian/Ukrainian online store with international shipping and buy. of course if you don't affraid additional Russian letters on keyboard :)

Why add another cablein your clutter?
Why not the stoway BT keyboard ?

do you like to care about recharging keyboard?
cable for this keyboard is atually very thin. it will not take more space than any recharger.

I have the virtual Keyboard from Itech....lousy gimmic...looks cool but not practical at all....you need a FLAT surface to project the keyboard on....as such, it's useless in vehicles or on grass, etc. You must have a clean table....certain kinds of tabletops will also not reflect the light well and make the keyboard dim.

Typing on a hard surface with no feedback (like the UX Keyboard) can get quite lame after a while. The click sound is satisfying though. The stowaway is a much better keyboard. I use it in conjunction with their BT mouse

Sometimes I use the one I have left from my VAIO U50. It's foldable and easy to carry around! But I have to say that I really got used to UX50's inbuild keyboard so is going rare to use an external keyboard.

Did that keyboard come with the 50? Or was it an extra attchment? It is usb right? when it is folded it is bigger than the UX? In the picture it looks like a full size keyboard. Is that still being sold? Don't tell me: only sold in Japan by Rapan sony style, right?

Yes the Keyboard came with all U series. Its bigger then my Sony TR2 laptop keyboard. I prefer it much more then the Think BT keyboard because the T-BT is missing keys and not easy to use because of the less rows of keys.

One bad thing about the sony U keyboard is, it cant lock open. So using it on your lap is almost impossible because it keeps wanting to fold up. However on a table, its perfect!

Yes the Cherry KB also has an extra row. That is anothe rpain about the TO KB. Do you know if they U50 KB is available from Sony for separate purchase?

The Type U foldable keyboard is no longer available from SONY. An in the past it was a wobby 15000円. When it is folded is slighly bigger then the UX, about the same size when the UX is in the port replicator. Yes it's USB and has stick pointer in the middle.

The reason why I have a spare one, was that early this year the original keyboard's stick pointer was broken and I returned it for reapair to Sony (Stickpointer: I expected some 5000円 costs). They called me that they don't repair it but would replaced it with a new one for the 15000円 and an additional fee of 3000円. Quite shocked! But, I love my U50+ and at that time no UX50 yet insight, so I said OK and they also gave me the broken one back! So I can use the brocken one at my office and the new one at home!

Now I can use it with UX50 too.

may be you understood wrong? I know, Cherry is very popular in Russia. I'm not excluding situation when Cherry has special branch in Russia with it's own keyboard models more suitable for Russian market.

Actually, i really didn't mind to buy exactly cherry brand. I could buy this keyboard even if it would have no name.
I will try to find company with international shipping, but alas, on-line shops in Russia aren't as popular as in America.

I purchased the USB Flexible keyboard from CompUSA. Rolled up it is pretty compact and only cost $30. Not as good as regular keyboard, but it's a good trade off when you're on the road. Here's the link: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=BROWSE&search=keyboard&N=200076&search_redir=1&product_code=309746&Pn=Flexible_Mini_Keyboard

Does anyone know if the Stowaway Ipaq Bluetooth Keyboard will work on the UX? I saw them on clearance at my local CompUSA.

For those of you that have the Think Outside bt keyboard - What do you use to prop the UX up with? I know it comes with a stand but i was thinking it wouldnt be strong enough to use with the UX and its heavier than a smartphone/PDA...

I have been reading the stand thread so theres not a need to link to it if it doesnt work.

I have the Dell-rebranded version of their original Think Outside Bluetooth Keyboard (not the newer one with a number row), and the stand is strong enough. You can't plug the AC adapter in while using it unless a tilt is OK, though. (You can if you use it in portrait mode.)

I just picked up the Think Outside (Now iGo) "Sierra" bluetooth keyboard.. Its just like their old style version that fanfolds into quarters like they used to make for the palm pilot. Its NIIIIICCCEEE.

I have the Think Outside universal keyboard and the stand actually holds up the UX. In fact, I plug in the adapter and use a wide pen or highlighter to prop up the right side so that it's not tilted with the adapter. It works fine tilted, but it messes with the symmetry and since I always have highlighters and pens, I don't want a tilted screen. I wish I had the newer one with the number row, but since I just purchased this one for the UX in July, I can't condone the new one.

currently I'm using a fingerworks touchstream mini USB with mine. It's a mouse/keyboard/gesture pad all in one small footprint little bigger than the UX.
