i have been using a Cingular ZX-20 to work as a modem for my UX-180. it works fine and i get HSPDA and UTMS speeds. Now i purchased an HTC TyTn phone running windows mobile 5. Cingular doesn't support this phone, and won't talk to me.
When i take out the sim from my samsung ZX-20 and put it in the Tytn cell phone, i can make phone calls with no problem. However, when i click on Internet explorer it can't dial out to Cingular's 3G service. Does anyone know if i need to configure any network settings on the Tytn to get out on Cingular's data service.
Once i can dial out, i plan to make a bluetooth connection to the UX and use the phone as a modem. some of you have this phone.....pls help!

I was able to get the phone to connect with my UX and dial out. i used the following settings:
Access Point isp.cingular
# to dial *99#
Username ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password CINGULAR1
This works but the speed on my laptop only get to 200K. when i run the speed test on the phone's browser, i get 400-800K. i don't understand why the big difference.
One interesting note: the bluetooth connection only offers options for 2 services, a serial port and headset. There is no service for DUN (dial up networking). i did ck both available services, but never the less it connected ....but at this lower speed.
Any comments from any Cingular users?

I also bought the TyTn, and got the settings from Cingular Data Support. Ask them to put you through to HTC support.
Another source for the settings is the HTC Hermes WiKi (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes).

tytn settings are identical to the 8125 which can be found on Cingular's support site. As for tx speeds check the speed setting on your Bt serial port, they default to 115k but can be used at max rates.

I got much higher speeds with my HTC Tytn and a notebook via USB cable. I don't know with bluetooth..

PS: I didn't try it on my Sony Vaio UX50. I only tried it on my big notebook.

Check maximum port speed in the modems control panel. You should be able to set it to something higher than 115k.

i found the modem settings under the bluetooth connection details...set this to ~900K. however this setting did not increase my speed ......i still get ~200K using my bluetooth dial up connection.....from my UX to the phone.
it is so strange that the phone achieves 500-600k speeds when i simply use the browser on the phone......and only 200K when going out via my UX through the phone.

I don't think the internet connection speed will exceed the bluetooth connection. Remember the Phone connection is faster than the Bluetooth connection.

i still can get double the speed when i use a Samsung phone with bluetooth and HSPDA. so if bluetooth is limited, it doesn't effect my Samsung.
