Hi,

for me, it seems that Ubuntu NetBook Remix does not work with Live CD mode. Anyone tried installation of this version?

I tried Ubuntu 9.10 and Netbook remix 9.10 but none of them worked
On my Eee I don't have any problems?!

I tried dual-booting Ubuntu 9.10 on my UX27 (with Windows 7 on the other side), and at first I thought it didn't work either. Turns out for some reason the internal display is not recognized by 9.10. When an external display is connected, you can see it works fine. I'm not sure how to fix the internal display though, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks for that information!

If you want to boot from the LiveCD, press F4 and set to Safe graphics Mode before you start trying Ubuntu.

F4 works!

But x configuration which is set automatically is not good; screen keeps flickering...

it's not UX'es that are the issue with Karmic, it's the new version of the Intel Graphics driver.

To get it to boot once it's installed on your HDD, hit ESC to get to the grub boot menu. Hit 'e' to edit the relevant entry, then go to the end of the line that ends something like "ro quiet splash". Delete "quiet" and "splash" and add "nomodeset" so that the end reads "ro nomodeset". then hit CTRL+X and it will boot that config one time.

Once your in, edit /etc/grub/grub.cfg to reflect this. Still an awful lot of bugs... but that should get you going.

If this doesn't work for anyone, let me know.

Oh, and for anyone wanting to use the NetBook Remix version of Karmic, the GUI is driven with hardware graphics acceleration.... without proper Intel support it's pretty hideous! When you load apps, they are fine though and I am working on fixing it.

danmiddle2, thank you.

btw, you're a developer?

danmiddle2, thank you.

You're welcome.

I do some system and application development, but I'm not sure I consider myself a developer. I do more web app stuff than system and app.

Kind regards

Dan
