How do I wifi/usb tether a verizon mifi 2200 to Dell 620 laptop running windows xp? ?

I just purchased a refurb dell 620 laptop & a verizon mifi 2200 off of ebay to use as a wifi hotspot. Now my laptop will connect to the mifi 2200 with wifi but I have no internet connection, I googled and found it has to be usb tethered but when I plug it in to my laptop it charges & will not show up in my "E" drive so what do I do? Please help thanks

Being that this is a forum for the Sony UX pc, I don't know too much about mifi (silly question, but do you have a verizon data plan subscription for your mifi device?) All I found was a manual for the 2200 here. You might have that already, but I hope it helps
