My UX490N is now the fastest UMPC in the world

Anh just emailed me and told me that my UX490N benches at 45000 with crystal mark.

I am putting a 4965agn and a 3rd antenna in it when I get it back also.

Anh is shipping it back to me on Monday, I will have it on Tuesday.
I can't wait. I have been using a Vaio T360P and the hard drive is so damn slow. Needs an SSD upgrade.


It was a real leap of faith for me to send off my 490N which is about a week or 2 old to be hacked up. What the hell it's only money. I figured if it all went south it is only 2 or 3 days work to buy another one.

That UX is going to be heaven, I am sure you will be asked many times, what is it like to own the fatest UMPC in the world. Once you upgrade your wifi card oh man enough said!

I am curious if you are an XP or Vista guy and what will you be running ?

your eyes really have gotten bad. Look at the picture man, it's xp all the way.


First thing I do when I get a PC with Vista is go in the BIOS set network boot and connect up to my BDD server to wipe it out and install XP.

hahaha, yes I see it is XP but I was just wondering if you are going to run Vista considering your UX is now really powerful ... I know I wouldn't but that's just me!

I also noticed that your SSD scores were a lot higher than my UX490N, if I remember correctly they were in the 8k range!

Newer parts maybe? I don't think every model always gets exactly the same parts, different batches, who knows.

I was pretty happy with the speed of it before, but the upgrade was just too tempting.

Well the SSD I originally had in my UX90S which is now in my OQO was benching about 7.5k and then my UX490N was getting more like 8k something, yours is hitting 9, the scores just getting better and better. Just like CPU batches, some good some bad.

Well Honestly for the MicroPC guru the upgrade is a must!

I wonder if Anh can put a 1Ghz CPU in my HTC Advantage x7510, that thing already chomps the battery

This HTC does not use intel CPU, so I am not sure if it can be upgrade. Need some researches.
