At least they learned a lesson in extended battery pricing if nothing else. I am hopeful of those battery life estimates...maybe that is why they chose a 1.3 Atom instead of a more powerful chip.

I wonder if the 3G/WWAN module could be applied/modded to the Vaio UX. Seems that SIM Card is integrated but I don't have an idea of the interface it uses to connect to the motherboard (minipcie or some kind of mini serial?)! And would the Instant OS be an advantage when talking about battery life?
Well I will wait another day cause tomorrow the information about UMID PC is coming out... This one is just slightly bigger than the UX, has a proper keyboard it seems, 3G, wlan, gps, tv (?), and I guess won't cost more than the Vaio P |

Lame sauce......
I just got a Acer Aspire One for simple work tasks and I love it. It will never replace my UX powerhouse, but this P series is like a midget in a kids world. Sony always blows it with their pricing too. Netbooks are supposed to be cheaper. Not the same price as a regular laptop. I could build one with better specs for that price. Just like others said, unless the come out with something UX like, I ain't buyin it. ![]() |

Thanks for the article reggie
In all honesty how is this Sony better than the million and one netbooks around. Which I might add are probably faster and battery life would be better ? Maybe I like them so much because of all the mods which can be done ![]() No touchscreen what a rip Where is the extra 4 - 6 hundred dollars go, gps and 3g LOL |

Well, I DO like the thing and I'm sure they'll sell quite a few of them...BUT there are quite a few other UMPC's these days - and some of them seem better than this one. This one is just a liiiiitle but too big, and it's not touch screen either. If it was a tablet I'd be more impressed. Best thing I see about it is indeed the screen resolution and the 2gig of memory. The pricing is good comparied to some of the other leading UMPC's
http://www.geekstuff4u.com/notebooks/umpc-handheld ...but if I was going to buy one right now I'd probably up of the extra $ and get one of the Fujitsu U2010's. Sure would be nice if we could get more memory in our UX's.... |
