Start a new thread about ready boost. I'd be interested to see what input other people have.

HDD vs. SSD. I swapped my HDD with a MTRON SSD and it has made an unbelievable difference. Now MTRON is supposed to be the fastest SSD at the moment and I'm sure there are SSD's that probably are not much faster than an HDD, but if you want to keep your SSD you can always use your MS and CF for extra storage, and if you have the K3520 modem imbeded in your UX, that accepts a micro SD which is good for another 8GB.

Holy moly!! I'm learning new things everyday about the UX... the K3520 modem micro SD trick sounds interesting. I have a UX490N, how do I know if it's equipped with this modem?

I agree that the SSD's are fast but they are cost prohibitive and their storage capacity is comparatively small. For the more valuable storage space and lower price the HDD trade off is better - besides, the 1.8" drives are spinning faster and have more cache on board to speed things up, combined with Ready Boost we're talking about fractions of a second now... storage space is still KING!!

Sorry PRAXXUS, I should have been more clear about the modem. You have to install the modem yourself. Here is a post with information on the modem.

I will be posting pictures soon about my UX project which includes this modem so stay tuned...

Cool
FYI

I have downloaded and installed the Windows 7 (7600 build) this is supposed to be the official RTM (Release to Manufacture) version. BUT NO PRODUCT ACTIVATION KEYS ARE AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER 22, 2009!!!

Therefore, no point in installing, unless you have a valid key, which Microsoft will only begin to activate when W7 hits the shelves... sooo back to build 7100 (

Overall how hard is it to do a clean installation of Windows 7? Especially if anyone has a japanese model!

Unzip (~80MB) and run the exe file. It will create a folder with all the drivers read the text file for instruction... it's simple.
If you want to make this into a separate post, I'll sticky it so people can get the driver pack easily.

So I installed the driver pack, and I think I followed all the directions, but windows notifications are still nagging me to install my "power management system driver".

I could've sworn I installed it so what gives? Anyone else have this problem? I'm running the RTM 7600.

All I can suggest is to reinstall. It took me a couple of tries to get everything working properly. I also suggest restarting after every install regardless of whether the system asks you to or not. It might also help to write down on a piece of paper the driver installs and tick them off so you know for sure you installed it.

Good luck.

Which build? Think I have 16385 on mine and I really didnt need anything in the driver pack to get up and running. IN fact something in the driver pack set my UX to 100% CPU and I had to roll back.
