Fingerprint scanner on UX - Touchchip driver

Hi All, Found out that the latest Windows 7 driver for UX touchchip no longer works, as Authentec has been bought by Apple and is no more, if you happen to re-install the driver or tried to do a finger print update/manage, it will send you to a non-existent page. You will need to install this driver...

Agree with your original conclusion - go get an extended battery (which could power the UX for up to 5 hours) and just charge it with the dock. Problem solved.

You can reinstall UX390N with ANY Windows XP/Vista/7 CD or DVD, you don't need the original disks. After installation, download all the drivers and original programs (google them) and install away. I recommend using Windows 7 as it is the best OS for UX series.

Herbert, thanks for the update. I think I might update mine to Windows 10 as well. How well does the display driver work? Any issues with brightness adjustment/sleep/back light off?

Bigs, I am using the 5100 which is a full length card. Thanks for posting the power differences between those cards. I think I am going to upgrade to the latest 7260AC dual band card for even greater power savings.

You can not use a 7.4VDC battery on the UX. It has to be a 3.7V, either 2600mAH or 5200mAH (large battery). A 7.4VDC battery will fry the UX. Or are you talking about the OQO?

Can't believe the UX is now 10 years old!!! I think it is time for a re-design with a Core M CPU. This will be the most ideal processor for the UX and there is also no need for a fan! One of the most interesting tablets using Core M is the Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 and it can run for 8-9 hours with a 1...

Ceehoppy, thanks for the update on Win10. I guess we will wait for the official release and hopefully it will run better. I will not use the Windows Malware scanner on any UMPCs, there is a really fast/lightweight virus scanner called Webroot that is light years better than the MS version.

Bigs, yup, as far as I know, the OS will remain mostly compressed and will only decompress when running/loading, so the amount of space use is crazy low. With an SSD it should not impact load speed very much. With Win 8/8.1/10 the OS saves the RAM state and actually restores it during boot up, so th...
