It's unlikely for a UX backlight to fail since it is LED based, not a CCFL tube and inverter, but I suppose anything is possible. Double check the connections to ensure the flex cables are inserted all the way in. If it still doesn't work, plug your old screen back in and see if the backlight still ...

What drivers are you trying to extract exactly? There are no Sony drivers that will provide tablet PC functions. Universal Extractor works on every Sony driver I've used it on.

UPDD is the only solution I'm aware of.

Interesting...

So what happens if you remove the battery and run it on AC now?

Can your old battery take a charge?

In Device Manager, open up the Atheros adapter, open the Driver tab, click "Update Driver", "Browse my Computer for Driver Software", "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". From there, you might see a driver (not digitally signed) that looks something like "Atheros AR9280/AR9283...

I use a driver downloaded from here . They have been customized and allow you to change lots of settings for the card in Device Manager which are normally hidden with the standard/official drivers. Also makes the green WLAN light work in Win7. I just use the wireless on/off button in Win7 Mobility C...

I agree with anh that getting the hardware side going is probably the hardest part of implementing SATA. I'm sure there's a lot of other worthwhile stuff that can be done in BIOS though. It would be great if we could modify the BIOS settings controlling the fan, keyboard backlight, frequency and mul...

You say that like it's simple. Say that we do somehow enable SATA in BIOS. We would still need to get physical access to the SATA data lines coming off the chipset. My feeling is that the Sony engineers wouldn't have bothered routing the tracks for SATA at all. There are in fact a couple of "SATA" S...

It uses USB 2.0, which is unconnected in the mini-PCIe slot, so you would have to solder another spare port to the slot. It would also need a SIM card slot to be connected up.

It looks like a really versatile card. Might be worth the hassle of doing all that, and changing to a USB WIFI adapter.

If you can't find one, I could make you one by embedding a high speed USB memory stick adapter inside a PCMCIA USB hub card. PM me if you're interested.
