Re: New user Sony Vaio U50 need upgrade advice SSD

Hi & welcome to the forum (not very much activity here anymore). So if you have the Sony U50 - the micropc that does not have a built in keyboard- then I have read that you have to look for a 1.8" pata (Parallel- ATA or also called IDE) ssd with a 50 pin connector ( NOT one with a ZIF conne...

You appear to have a Japan-spec docking base that has a FeliCa card reader. This was Sony's RFID money card (like the new "chip" credit cards)- the reader let the pc owner make internet purchases with the card. Not much use for it outside of Japan.

You can still get all of sony's XP drivers for the UX at their support site here . These are UX280 drivers so you can do the model.txt trick, or get a utility like Uniextract to "unpack" eack of sony's exe files. This will remove the model check feature & the actual installer exe will be in a subfol...

Hello & welcome to the forum. Not much activity here as not too many people still have UX. From the description of your problem, I'm 98% certain you have a bad LCD screen. The only fix for that is to replace the screen assembly- there's one on ebay here if you're interested in repairing your UX. The...

Win10 is better on the ssd, but still doesn't work as well as win7. Response speeds are tolerable, but fairly often the os loads the U1500 at 90-100%, esp. the Windows malware scanner. I've manually installed any remaining Vista/Win7 drivers as needed, but still no luck with the dedicated UX hardwar...

The "fresh" win10 install used about 9GB, after updates & drivers it was 10-11GB.

@ bigs, I sold that particular UX with the Mtron some time ago- I didn't need that many UX's around & the Samsung ssd are almost as fast for random R/W (just not as fast on sequential). @ Tomn, you can check with darkerx & see if the original group buy deal is still in effect (see post #1 here ). Ot...

Read my signature bigs- my UX280 has the U7700 & ssd (64GB samsung right now). I put win 10 on the stock UX37- U1500 & 40GB hard drive. I left the hdd in because the UX37 is just for fiddling around, & I didn't want to spend $$ (but $17?, can't turn that down). You're "preaching to the choir" about ...
