We already know that using Crystalmark on Windows vs Ubuntu is like comparing apples to....kiwi fruit!
The mtron is capable of ATA133 (udma6). Here's the mtron connected to my desktop with a zif-ide adapter.
The Samsung can do ATA66 (udma4), so it hits lower seq. speeds, but random speeds are similar to mtron when it's in the UX.
Mtron uses more power than Samsung, at least as much as hdd. Right now I'm tweaking the C2D for max performance, so I don't care about power use as it's stationary. (ie no power managment, everything else set to max, minimum software, etc) Side benefit is fast (for XP) 20 sec boot times & 6sec shutdown. I always surprises me how slow a system gets after awhile with more & more apps, AV software, updates, etc.
