Hi

I have obtained the disks (lucky Lucky me) from the dealer that sold it to me.

The UX1XN now has the recovery partition and I have ghosted it complete with boot record.

Thanks for all the help!

Sull thank you for your great job !

Xp is now running on my UX 380, i have only some (little) problems :

- The biggest, The two camera doesn't work.. it s very strange because there no error in device manager, the driver is correctly installed, the application works (sony) but no pictures (front and back)... i ve tried to reinstall... without any success.

- The Vaio touch launcher works but "the touch" not, i m using à shortcuts on the board

- Zoom in/out doesn't work.. but i don't want to use it so...

thank you ! (and sorry for my bad english.. i'm french..)

Did you put the VCULocale.dll for non English System in \Program files\Sony\Vaio Camera Utility ?
Did you install the Gunze USB drivers for the Touch Screen ?

I have a ghost image of the French System.

Go team.

Everyone can manage without me :)

I find just tinkering around will solve problems, nothing beats that. !!!

Nothing to do with the softwarepack.

The last days I thought about that fact, that all Netbooks are running XP Home because it requires not so much performance like XP Professional. Is this right? And so it should not be better to run XP Home on the UX?

I cannot say something about XP Home because I never used it...
Where is the difference between the two OS´s?

XP Professional pretty much gives you a whole lot more security and management features over Home. These add a little bloat, but you could always tweak the install by turning off unneeded services. In my opinion, the difference in performance is so small it's just not worth installing Home on a UX. Professional is much more capable.

Personally, I run XP Tablet PC edition. The tablet features DO increase the amount of RAM Windows uses, but I think they are worth it.

BTW, I installed Windows Tablet using an actual Tablet PC disk, instead of starting out with Professional and hacking in Tablet PC components (that seemed like far too much trouble).
